The Swiss pianist and ECM artist Nik Baertsch is one of my favourite Jazz musicians. With his band Ronin he plays Zen Funk which is a groovy minimal, i.e. repetitive, Jazz music that integrates different beats into one composition. The band has a lot of of energy on their new record Holon as well as on stage. This July 2009 I attended a great Zen Funk workshop with Nik Baertsch in Tuscany, Italy. Really wonderful music!
